Autumn Star has been studying and creating textiles for over ten years. Four years of design education from Finlandia University in Hancock, Michigan lead to her B.F.A. in Textile Design. It was there she first started studying plant and mineral dyes customary to so many indigenous cultures. Autumn experimented with various plant dyes while completing her diploma works project based on the reacurring virgin, mother, and crone goddess imagery of past cultures and civilizations.
Her studies lead her to travel Belize and Guatemala. Immersed in the rich cultures of Central America she studied their weavings, designs, colors and customs.
Upon her return, Autumn let the wind blow her westward ending up in Northern California’s Hoopa Valley where she currently resides, designing, living, and loving.
